What keeps you motivated? “It’s a common experience for artists to have works they start but don’t finish.” I started this art in June 2020 with a different motivation. I had just started making realistic drawings with pen so I decided to challenge myself. After a few weeks in, it dawned on me that the project was more difficult than I thought. I lost motivation so I seldom worked on it rather I focused on other projects. After a couple months of very slow progress it slipped into the category of abandoned artworks. During that period, I came across the statement that it’s a common experience for artists to have works they start but don’t finish, so I believed this was going to be that one for me. Fast forward to early this year I decided to complete it. I made a commitment to work on it every single day until it was complete. What lessons do I take from this? The importance of willpower and discipline. A popular quote by George S. Clason defines willpower as the unflinching purpose to carry out a task you set for yourself to fulfillment. You are the only one standing in your way. You can do anything you set your mind to.
